A best gift is a gift which could make one happy and peaceful. We feel bliss when we receive gifts. We are indebted to the giver when we see the helpfulness and usefulness of that gift in our lives. Lord Krishna says in Bhagavad-gita by gifting this book / transcendental knowledge you save yourself and the receiver from the greatest danger. It is also stated in Gita Mahatmaya as below:
gitadhyayana-silasya
pranayama-parasyaca
naiva santi hi papani
purva-janma-krtani ca
"If one reads Bhagavad-gita very sincerely and with all seriousness, then by the grace of the Lord the reactions of his past misdeeds will not act upon him." (gita-mahatmya 2)
Bhagavad-gita invokes auspiciousness in the life of a person whoever accepts / distributes its teachings. Volumes of miseries could be easily eradicated just by simply reading these invaluable books. Bhagavad-gita is crown jewel among all the Vedic literatures. Sastras also states that:
mala-nirmocanampumsam
jala-snanam dine dine
sakrdgitamrta-snanam
samsara-mala-nasanam
"one may cleanse himself daily by taking a bath in water, but if one takes a bath even once in the sacred Ganges water of Bhagavad-gita, for him the dirt of material life is altogether vanquished." (gita-mahatmya 3)
Gifting mundane objects could give short-lived pleasures as long as the object lasts. With time, material objects dwindle and perishes and so its benefits. However, Bhagavad-gita and its teachings are permanent and it gives real happiness. A person is very dear to Lord Krishna who gifts this book and gets blessings from Him. Instead of gifting cake, flowers, greeting cards, dress etc., Gift a Srila Prabhupada’s book which would save from biggest dangers which is missing in the rare chance of human form of life. So why not help our near and dear ones by gifting this transcendental literature and give them real happiness.
